Four (4) year apprenticeship NATURE OF THE TRADE:
The carpenter works on many aspects of a building project including structural concrete, exteriors, roofs, infrastructure and scaffolding all the way to the trim and finish work.
Others specialize on interiors including metal framing, drywall installation, acoustical ceilings, wall partitions and computer- access flooring.
Working in all-weather conditions is to be expected.
At least 18 years of age
High School Diploma or GED
Physically able to perform rudiments of the trade
Construction familiarization helpful, not mandatory
Successfully pass a Drug Screen
Related training is required and is accomplished in 40 hour increments Monday-Friday four times per year.
Beginning apprentices start at 60% of Journeyworker wages. Wage increases happen in 5% increments each time an apprentice accomplishes 700 hours of on-the-job training and 80 hours of class time. Each level takes 5-6 months on average. Advanced placement available based on experience. Benefits include: Health insurance, pension plan and paid training.
